PCTFILER Holdings Pty Ltd is a patent administration company with offices in New York, Sydney, London and Munich. Established in April 2002, PCTFILER has a broad and growing international client base of over 350 PCT applicants and law firms. We operate in 25 countries through exclusive agency agreements with reputable patent attorney firms in each country.
PCTFILER is run by a Board of Directors with Gary Smith, former Director of the PCT at WIPO serving as a Senior Advisor to the Board.
Founder and Executive Director
An Australian patent attorney and legal practitioner, Justin invented the PCTFILER technology platform in 2000 and founded the company in April 2002. Since that time he has been involved in all aspects of the company’s growth. Prior to starting PCTFILER, Justin worked as a software-specialist patent attorney for a number of Australian firms including Allens Arthur Robinson and ShelstonIP. He has also worked as in-house counsel for Australia's most prolific patent filer, Silverbrook Research Pty Ltd.
Chief Executive Officer
Martin joined PCTFILER in early 2007 from Computer Patent Annuities (CPA), the world’s largest provider of outsourced annuity payment services to the IP industry. At CPA he was a member of the management board and was responsible for all global commercial and marketing activity. Before CPA, Martin led the early stage European growth of a number of US technology start-ups. Prior to this he held senior sales and marketing management positions with Reuters and the Financial Times.
Director & Patent Attorney
An Australian patent attorney, Jeff runs PCTFILER's production department out of our Sydney office. Before joining PCTFILER, Jeff worked as an electronics patent specialist for Spruson & Ferguson and ShelstonIP in Sydney, as a patent attorney for Page, White & Farrer in London and as Head Patent Counsel for Australia's most prolific patent filer, Silverbrook Research Pty Ltd.
Director
As Sales and Marketing Director for Johnson & Johnson Medical Australia (JJMA), Bay is responsible for the strategic and marketing direction of one of JJMA's fastest growing businesses. Before joining JJMA, Bay worked both as Director of Business Development and as Marketing Director for eBay Australia where he facilitated gross merchandise sales of A$63m and was a key member of the team that achieved profitability for the Australian business. Bay has also advised numerous companies in their business development and growth through his role as a management consultant for McKinsey & Company.
Director
David Nelson is the Managing Director of Divergent Capital, one of PCTFILER's major investors. In that role David has overall responsibility for sourcing, reviewing, negotiating and managing the group's venture capital investments. Having worked as a management consultant prior to joining Divergent, David led a number of client projects through the sales, planning and delivery phases achieving significant benefits for companies such as BT LookSmart and AusRegistry. He has also worked on developing strategies for the positioning of the Telstra subsidiary telstra.com, merger and acquisition preparation for AMP and a corporate restructure for Zurich Australia.
Chief Information Officer
John is responsible for the ongoing development of PCTFILER's technologies. He joined the company at the beginning of 2008 and brings with him over 25 years of IT experience, gained in Australasia, North America and Europe. John has previously delivered results for companies including Shell and Deloitte, as well as government agencies in New Zealand and Australia.
Chief Financial Officer
Marcel brings 35 years experience in the general insurance industry to his role as PCTFILER's Chief Financial Officer. He not only looks after the company's finances and accounting requirements but also contributes strategic and commercial advice based on his strong business experience.
